Marketing Machine Gun

Everything has changed and corporations are only now slowly recogninsing the benefits of social marketing along side the traditional ways such as TV and print. It has simply made it possible for the average Joe to do his own marketing and be just as successful as a large brand name with millions of marketing dollars as long as their idea is something that creates interest.

What if we came up with a concept for a documentary and to start with we would create a following like no other, so that thousands of people would flock to our Facebook Page, website, Twitter and blogs to follow our progress, constantly discussing what we are doing, making comments and constantly keeping it fresh. Which in turn helps us achieve good search engine ranking and more publicity. After the first initial setup, if your concept strikes a chord with your chosen audience they will do the publicity for you.

We have started only last week one of these animals and you can see it here. In only one week we have 1600 fans and people are talking about it. We have a number of other publicity stunts in the works, like public performances, flash mobs, T-Shirts, setting up a community video website and the list goes on.

Bands on what Lands?

Since the days of sitting around the fire, music has been a way of sharing stories and escaping reality. And that’s exactly what the men on the APY (Pitjantjatjara, Ngaanyatjarra and Yankunytjatjara) Lands in South Australia enjoy doing. Living in remote aboriginal communities, people face depression, cultural difficulties, alcohol abuse, poverty and many more issues. On the bright side of the lands, sport and music are the two main activities that get people really excited.

The documentary Bands from the Lands looks at why the only music program on the lands was discontinued which affected some of the Australia’s most talented musicians. The music program was held in all 14 communities and had been running for over ten years with amazing success. It was initially set up as a diversion program and some musicians went on to receive nationwide praise. Iwantja Band feature on Triple J’s unearthed, are number one on 5NPY, won the Bush Bands Bash, played at Woodford and Spirit Festival and are about to play at the Dreaming Festival.

Iwantja are currently recording their second album in Alice Springs which is 5 hours south of Indulkana community where they live. The band members have no financial support and have to fund their own travel and accommodation. In the past, any musician had the opportunity to record and produce their own music for distribution. With no access to equipment, support or even a place to practice they are relying on the kindness of those around them. Their self determination to succeed is inspiring and they truly believe they can do anything.

With everyone striving for a better world to live in with no boundaries holding us together and [...]

I SEE RED, I SEE RED, I SEE RED.

Red. The slam on the breaks as you approach a stop sign. The ‘F’ on your history paper.  The flush on your boss’ face when he’s pissed off….
Recent research suggests that our brain associates the colour red with danger when viewed in achievement contexts. Researchers from the University of Munich recently tested the effect of viewing the [...]
